"Whose interests do we serve by continuing this exercise in futility?" ~Ron Paul
It's easy to sit at home, scribble some Sharpie ink on paper, and scream "WOOT! I LOVE PEACE!"
Truth is, what I'm doing is really worthless, apart from the fact that it makes me feel a little better about myself. Doodling is not going to change the world.
Everyone knows that Osama Bin Laden was killed recently.
That was the original motive for the war in Afghanistan.
There's no longer reason for this war.
People may have different views on the subject of war, but everyone has to agree that there's no need for our soldiers to be losing their lives. For innocent civilians to be dying. For families to be torn apart.
Because that is all war does. Never solves any problems. Only brings tears and bloodshed.
Brave soldiers that have died are brushed aside as a number; innocent lives lost are merely "collateral damage."
Enough.
There isn't much that I as a person can do.
But here are two petitions to get the troops out of Afghanistan:
Please take a few minutes to sign them. It's not about America, Afghanistan, Muslims, or terrorism. It's about stopping bloodshed. Your own soldiers are losing their lives. Take a moment to do what you can to make it stop. And spread the word. :)
And here's some Sharpiness.
Islam is not a religion of terrorism.
It comes from the word "Salam," (سلام) meaning "peace."
I applaud you. Heading over. Wonderful little piece as well, I really like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat one! Signing them as you read this.
ReplyDeleteWell said sharpie friend. You may not be much of a sports fan, but if you are feeling patriotic, take a look at my most recent post
ReplyDeleteI signed them, hopefully something good will come out of it
ReplyDeletealso that drawing makes me feel like i'm falling down a well.. with peace ;_;
Gorgeous as always, and you have a very beautiful heart.
ReplyDeleteI love this. And I love you.
ReplyDeleteyup, violance does not solve prolems!
ReplyDeletehere, here!
ReplyDeletePetitions are good, but support will help them keep their morale up as well.
ReplyDeleteI recommend operation write home. You're talented. You can make them cards and they will use them to write home to their loved ones. My girlfriend is a professional scrapbooker and has been doing this for a few months. She has received dozens of thank you letters from troops, and it's a heartwarming feeling.
I like the psychedelic, 60s vibe your last couple of pieces have had. And I'm not going to even comment on the war and such. Too deep an issue to even go into.
ReplyDeletedont think the petition will work, but nice colorful drawing
ReplyDeleteMr. RK and I were just talking about this. And never discount what one person can do!
ReplyDeleteVigorously nodding my head in agreement!
ReplyDeleteTo quote Calvin and Hobbes, "How do soldiers killing each other solve the world's problems?"
ReplyDeleteIsn't jihad supposed to be a holy struggle within oneself, too?
ReplyDeleteI don't like when people generalize about groups based on the actions of just a few members of that group, or even people who only claim to belong to that group.
