Instagram: almostoutofink

Hi guys

My Sharpies have been sitting in my drawer untouched for over a year, and now that it's summer and I can take a break from drowning in architecture work, I thought I'd get back to it all.

However, it's time to transfer platforms.
I'll be transferring all my art to instagram, and I'll continue to update it and also share some arch stuff with you all.

Before I do that though I want to thank all of you for all the support you gave me when I started this blog back when I was 16. It was a rough time in my life and I took to Sharpies in my spare time to try to take the negativity in my head and turn it into something beautiful. Every comment, every little bit of support helped me so much, and I'm so happy to say that I'm much better now then I was back then.

Anyway, hope to see you on instagram.

Heyy

I'm sorry my posts have gotten so sporadic.
Majoring in architecture has sucked literally every ounce of free time out of my life.

Also, for the first time in my life, art is killing me. My expressionist style is my worst enemy right now. Architecture drawings require an intense level of precision...to the point where my professor made me redo an entire plan because one wall was half a millimeter off.

Now, compare that to my Sharpie blobs.

So, needless to say, I'm swamped (and dying).
But I'll try to post a little more often.
I really miss you all and your lovely comments.

It's not my fault this time!
My laptop died. It's slightly tragic.
So I've been on a hiatus from all my blogs, and unfortunately will continue to be MIA until it's fixed.
And I have no art to share with you because they're all saved on that laptop, and iPads are ridonk and don't have SD card slots.

...geez, my definition of "hiatus" is beginning to look more and more like Fall Out Boy's...

Some Input, Please?

You know what sucks?
When you're so stressed out that you can't even do art. :(

Instead of ranting, how about I ask for your opinions on something else?
For those of you that have taken AP Art, you'll know that there's a concentration section, where you have 12 works centered around a specific theme.

I decided to make the theme overcoming depression.
The art is going to start from dark, suicidal themes and then transitions into finding happiness.
Your help? I need more ideas, particularly of the happy paintings.
It's so hard to think of things without being cliched.

Oh, and my teacher suggested having a flower in each work to symbolize emotions. For example, the drawing I'm working on now is a hand of a girl that killed herself. She is holding a dead rose. (Also, it's literally one of the worst things I've drawn. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME.)
Anyhoo, as the paintings get happier, the flowers will be more and more vibrant.
I need ideas of actual things to paint, though.

You guys' help would really be appreciated.

First of all, thanks for all your sweet comments on the last post. :)

A few weeks back, I showed you the incomplete version of the drawing from this post . Some of you asked to see the finished piece. So here you go. :)

 

Again, I apologize for the lack of updates. I have a lot to show you guys...there's just so much stress that I haven't been able to get around to it.

An Eye For an Eye Leaves The Whole World Blind

Hi, everyone!
I know, it's been a while.
Sorry. :(

Life has gotten really busy.
For those who didn't read the label in my last post, I have moved...across the world.
I could describe in detail the ups and downs of this new place, but I won't keep you long. (UPDATE: my bad.)

And....here is my latest Sharpie creation.
Not my best; I realized the eye's shape was off after I hit it with the black Sharpie.

But if I only posted the best of what I did, that wouldn't be honest of me. :)


Lastly, a weekish ago, D4 gave me an award.
Once again, D4, thank you so much. 
Honestly, I'd give this back to you. The variety in your music taste definitely deserves another award. Especially because I don't see how you can do it. Man, I really respect you. :)

Color: Colors are most beautiful when they're in harmony with other colors. Picking just one would ruin that harmony.

Animal: Dogs, cats...anything fluffy and pettable. :)

Drink: Pakola. Oh, god it's so delicious.

Facebook or Twitter: Honestly, I hate both.

Your passion: I could say Sharpie art...but what I really want to do is make a difference. To, for once, do something positive for someone else.

Giving or getting presents: How about I tell a story to answer this. In this country, after coming out of a restaurant, you sometimes encounter a homeless family. Whenever we walk by these people, my dad turns to me and says "Give them the takeout. They need it more than we do." When I'm told to do this, I immediately start thinking about how delicious the food was, and my bloated stomach suddenly feels empty again. We give them the food and get into the car, and the greed inside me keeps imagining the steak I barely touched. But as I think about it, it dawns on me that this family is human too. The fact that I was lucky to be born into a family where we never have to worry about where the next meal will come from does not make me a better person. They are just as deserving as we are, and if I let greed and a bratty "I want more" attitude dictate my decisions, then I honestly don't deserve anything at all. That being said, giving presents is much more gratifying than getting. :)

Favorite pattern: Psychedelic art always amazes me.

Favorite day: Friday. It's actually a weekend in this country!

Favorite flowers: Lily of the valley. Gorgeous, gorgeous scent.
